hi,
im booked in to have a MRI scan on my head next saturday. and I was wondering if anyone can explain a few things to me:
1) what happens?
2) do you have to be but naked?
3) is it right no metal allowed?
thankyou in advance pooratty xx
I had an mri scan last year I may have some of the principals of it wrong- but I will give it a shot. what happens is the big machine produces sound waves of varying frequency to create a picture of your soft tissue. I believe that there is also a magnetic field that is created at the same time. it was very loud and annoying- they gave me a headset so that I could listen to music. I believe my arms were in the machine for about 40 minutes or so. I did not have to be naked during my MRI- if it is your head that they are going to scan, I don't see why you would have to strip down and wear a gown. and yes- you are not allowed to have any metal on your person while the scan is taking place. they will probably not give you headphones- since they contain magnets and metal. I only had to get my wrists scanned- so things will most likely be different for you. you will probably get earplugs, I would think, since the machine is pretty loud. well have fun. hope this answers your question. I believe I answered correctly.
I had a MRI last week and today going to see the results today. An MRI scan is where you are put into a large tube with magnets and they send out magnetic coils that pick up with your body to produce your picture/scan. You don't strip down for ANYTHING! An if its a private hospital they might give you headphones and a cushion...:D
I had a MRI scan and I was very scared at the beginning but there is nothing to be worried about
what happens if everyone over 40 years old had the MRI scan
