I have a male and female beta fish and they dont like each other, they are in a tank together but its divided. they keep trying to attack each other. why?
I put a male and female beta fish together, and they get along fine. He'll chase her here and there, but he chases mollies as well and they are allowed to be in same tank. It may not be safe on occasions, but mine are doing just fine. When you put the bags of the fish in new water, (so there is no temperature shock) you should be able to tell then whether or not your beta's will get along. DO NOT however put two males together.
Hi,
Betta fish are Siamese fighting fish. They've been used scientifically to study aggression, because if you put one in a tank in front of a mirror, it will try to attack itself.
So the obvious solution here is to get another tank and separate them. And don't put them in front of mirrors.

There's a reason why beta's are sold in single containers in the store, you're not spossed to put them with any other fish. Especially the males. Sometime's it's okay for the females though. Seperate them.
You never ever put two betas together. The people at the pet store, or wherever you got them should have told you that.
For some reason, betas don't get along.
