what are two methods used to place determine where to place a decimal point when when multiplying decimals?

Answer #1

The only way I know is to count the total number of decimals places in both numbers you are multiplying.

For example:

 2.84

x 31.29

You multiply it, and then you place the decimal point after the 3rd number….because that’s how many total places there are in the problem.

Answer #2

im sorry but your count is off. 4 decimal places would be behind the decimal.

Answer #3

Oh well…I am terrible at math. lol.

Answer #4

I have no idea what that means!

Answer #5

2.84 has two numbers behind the decimal. - 8 and 4 31.29 has two numbers behind the decimal. - 2 and 9 when you multiply the numbers you get 888636. now put 4 numbers behind the decimal and get 88.8636. that is your answer. i only know of one way. im an engineer and dont know another way any simpler than this
