Men Contraceptives

So apparently the medical community is currently testing a twice monthly injection that will keep men from creating any sperm…there by keeping their partners from conceiving.

Women: Is this something you would consider in your household if it became an option or would you rather be the one taking BC? Would you trust the men to get their shots on time and believe them?

Men: Would you consider getting this injection twice a month? Could you stay on top of it and make an appointment twice a month to get these shots?

Answer #1

Could you stay on top of it ?…yes - Consider ?, possibly, given more information, possible side effects, age consideration, etc.

Answer #2

I think it’s a good idea, and I would trust the man to get the shots. I think if you feel you can’t trust your man to get the shots, you really shouldn’t be sleeping with him.

I would probably stay on birth control anyway, though, because of the PMS and acne benefits, and because no method of birth control invented yet is 100%.

Answer #3

I think it’s a brilliant idea. No contraceptive gives 100% protection but if he had no sperm then there would be no chance of conception. Although I think some men may feel like there “man hood” had been taken away and decide against it.

Answer #4

I would back in the day before I got cut now it doesnt matter.

Answer #5

I wouldnt personally because it could cause side affects such as ruining the mens ability to ever create sperm again. I say if a couple doesnt want a baby they both should be responsable.

Answer #6

“I say if a couple doesnt want a baby they both should be responsable. “

Getting on birth control - IS responsible though. What are you saying - married people shouldn’t have sex if they dont want a baby right then?

Answer #7

Well, its not castration so as long as they have something to hold onto (all of us have noticed that with our men–like they think its going to disappear or run away!? Lol) they”ll still have their “manhood” intact. As far as side effects, it would be worth waiting to try it, just to see. if you’re a young couple who don’t want children now,but definitely want them in the future,u def want to find out if it ends up causing sterility later on. Yes, if we were back 15 years and thinking about kids later on, I could definitely trust my husband to be resposible to do it. What I feel would be the greatest prophylactic would be a nonbreakable, 2nd skin feeling condom that men would not complain about wearing. Sturdy enough to not break, but thing enough to not take away the sensation for men. No sterility problems in either sex, and would cut down on the rising # of pregnancies (especially in young girls), and protect against STD’s. There has to be some type of nonlatex material out there that scientists could make something like this. Certainly take away a lot of the whining from men “but it just doesn’t feel right–takes away the sensation, I don’t want to wear one!!” Wonder how much louder the whining is when girlfriend/wife is pregnant. Or when notified they have an STD or coming out or the Dr.s office after being given a death sentence!!! What do you guys (and gals) think? Sorry Mandyloo not trying to take away from your question). {=

Women: Is this something you would consider in your household if it became an option or would you rather be the one taking BC? Would you trust the men to get their shots on time and believe them? well taking the pill myself reassures me that I have a low chance of getting pregnant I would be all for my partner taking a birth control injection however id like to still combine the two either sex can be responsible, not just a man or woman and there is a lot of men who fear getting a girl pregnant just as much as the girl fears getting pregnant because there going to become a father, and some men dont want that either way though I would be all for it but id like to continue taking the pill as well
