how long do conures need to be out of their cage every day?

i would really like to get another bird and so i am doing some research before i pitch the idea to my mom. ive been researching conures for a few hours now and it all seems manageable for my level of err… birdness. so on average how many hours a day would a green cheeked conure need out of the cage? i usually have my cockatiel out for maybe 3-4 hours a day, would a conure need any more than that? also if there is anything else you think i should know before i make my decision let me know :) thanks!

I have a Sun Conure, he is the most awesome pet I’ve ever had. They should be out of their cage for, at the very least, an hour a day (on your busy days, try your hardest to let the bird out for an hour). 3-4 hours, like you do with your Cockatiel, should be fine but more is always better! There are play sets that you can buy for Conures that will let the bird have some out-of-cage time, but enable you to do whatever you want (as long as you’re still keeping a close eye on the bird since he/she will still be out of the cage, and as long as you still get the 3-4 hours of personal play time in). Conures are curious birds, and selfish at times. I recommend making sure you get one that is young and has been handfed. An older one might already have bad habits that you won’t like, and handfed birds are always easier to handle when they’re young. My Sun Conure can be VERY loud sometimes. If you don’t like noise, don’t get one. If you want one only because you think it will talk eventually, don’t get one because the chances are slim. Watch some YouTube videos about the Green Cheeked Conures, so you can see how their personalities are. There’s a lot more that I could tell you, but since you already own a bird, I’m sure you know most of it. ;) If you get one, enjoy it! Conures truly are amazing little creatures.
