what is limewire for can you download other thing besides music?

also can it give you viruses? and how do the police chatch you and if they do what happens?

limewire is just 1 of many p2p sharing programmes and if i may add, 1 of teh worst. yes you can download other stuff, yes your putting yourself at greater risk of catching yourself a big ol piece of malware and losing compleat control of your system. its your isp and people that own the copyrights EG: lucas arts that monitor the files your downloading and if caught, and its only a matter of time before your isp will be contacted/will contact you letting you know why they’ve cut your internet connection off and that the parties you stole have been notified. youll then end up in court, well it will be your parents and they will face a huge fine. could be anything like the blokes that run piratebay got. and that was a 3 million pound fine. they were ordered to pay damages to many. oh and they got a 1 year prison sentence. so erm, gd luck explaining that one to your parents. i recommend not using it. i mean itll be your parents facing the consequence, not you :p

I have to agree with Matty, Limewire is one of the worst peer to peer (p2p) sharing systems out there. Its full of virus/malware/spyware, and is hugely insecure. Also, several organizations have been cracking down specifically on Limewire in the last couple weeks, really increasing your change of getting caught using it.

Bittorrents are a bit better, as people can usually comment on whether or not there are virus/maleware/spyware in the files, and files with malicious software usually loose any seeders very quickly. But again you run the issue of its not really legal. I got an angry letter from Fox for downloading Avatar of all things(least they could have done is yelled at me for one of their good movies i d/l’d). And Bittorrents are getting cracked down on harder and harder too. (see mention of TPB by Matty) so they are becoming more and more risky to d/l’d anything from.

Overall right now pirating anything is getting to be to risky for my taste, and I have pretty much stopped all together.

look into using torrents, or other “better” p2p sites. edonkey, emule, slsk are just a few…
