Lithium Polymer batteries can catch fire if shorted out or charged on chargers intended for other types of batteries.
I don't know the details but some lithium batteries are designed "fail safe" so they can not catch fire. I assume overheating somehow causes it to disconnect from the source or load before the battery can burst.
Shoot, I thought you were talking about Lithium Polymer batteries. I'm not really familiar with this battery chemistry. The Wikipedia page indicates that Lithium Iron Phosphate isn't prone to burning. I don't really know anything about this material other than what I just looked up.
Shooting a lithium polymer battery would be dangerous. Lithium exposed to air can burst into flames. Elemental lithium is stored in oil or petroleum jelly to avoid contact with air (actually it is the humidity in air it reacts to).
You really can't buy these at the a local store, and they are not suppose to be able to catch fire like lipo batteries, I just wanted to see if anyone has heard of this happening, then back it with sources.
I did explain what I was looking for, you just did not know what a lifepo4 battery was. Lifepo4 is a lithium battery chemistry with great energy density.
oh ...oka but why its just not worth wrting if you dont explain wat to expect.....it makes me reallly mad and wanna scream when ppl do that
I have seen these batteries shot and not burn, I did not think a short would cause this.
Im not sure but maybe if you contact the store they can give you ifo on the bateries
