I want to know if there is anything that someone can do to me, when I had a case that was closed and dissmissed cause there were no evidence, and then ex girlfriend moms got mad, she works at the lawfirm that handled the case, and now she is threatening to bring it back up and try to threaten my work with it, is there anything that she can do to me..! If it was closed already and I paid my fees for court and everything.. ? ?
She can tell your work about it... There's nothing she can legally do but you probably dont want people at your work finding out.
However, there is something such as client confidentiality the lawyers are supposed to respect... If she mentions the case you could go to her lawfirm and get her fired (maybe you should remind her of that...) I sincerely doubt the lawyers at her firm want a lawsuit on their hands or an employee who goes around blabbing about their clients...
ty is probably right, but it couldn't hurt to talk to a lawyer to be sure.
One question though, you said you paid your fees? Do you mean fines? Because if you paid a fine, then you must have been found responisible in some way. Was it criminal or civil?
It can't be re-opened if it was closed "with prejudice".
(with prejudice meaning the case was dismissed with good reason - no evidence is with prejudice)
ty is right - conflict of interest, she can't bring up a case that she's involved in professionally.
