There are a ton of debates between republicans and democrats. I think that we have lost sight and people are too stupid to realize the debate should be between progressives and traditionalists.

Bush was a progressive republican = problems Obama is a progressive democrat = problems

am I the only one who sees this?

Answer #1

There are degrees. I think Obama is far more open (even if not completely) than Bush ever was.

Answer #2

Obama, just like ANY other president, tells us what he wants us to know…and what he thinks we might want to hear, and what he feels will get his agenda on the road…all manipulation. Truth and transparency…in government doesn’t exist…oil and water…

Answer #3

houghtrain, please show me where I said he was. He was a neocon. That is not a traditional republican.

We will see phrannie, but so far, Obama has been far more open than the bush white house ever was. You know, like the secret meeting in the white house where cheney invited Oil company CEOs in to help write their energy policy.

Answer #4

jamahl

if you think that bush was a traditional republican than you need to take a history lesson.

Answer #5

“gone are the days of accountability all the way around”

No, those days are back now after an eight year absense.

This…I sincerely doubt…Politicians are politicians…and I haven’t seen one thing that would give me faith that the politicians themselves are changing one iota. Accountability has never been a priority of ANY administration…

At the rate that huge, VERY expensive bills blast thru Congress these days, I’m all for taking some of that Stimulus money, and getting all those guys enrolled in Evelyn Wood courses…Now THAT would be money well spent!

Answer #6

“progressive republican”

This an oxymoron.

“am I the only one who sees this?”

Yes

“I don’t think it much matters these days because people only listen to the rhetoric…”

And what you listen to isn’t rhetoric?

“but don’t bother to look at or check up on, their actions”

Holy crap batman… Amblessed is accusing people of not looking things up…

“gone are the days of accountability all the way around”

No, those days are back now after an eight year absense.

Answer #7

I don’t think it much matters these days because people only listen to the rhetoric…what they say is good…but don’t bother to look at or check up on, their actions - this combined with a press, with their own agenda, that won’t call a politician out on anything, no matter what they do or misinformation they throw out - gone are the days of accountability all the way around - The American people pay.

Answer #8

Personally I am not a libertarian but I would like to see what they could do with control for a couple of years. Sometimes I think that have some crazy ideas, but then there are times where I think damn, thats not a bad idea.
But yes, republicans should be traditionalist by nature. I was a fan of Bush because of the tax cuts, and the war on terror, but that was the extent of my favor with him.

Answer #9

oil ALWAYS floats…& never floats in degrees…If the Administration throws something out on the table for us all to focus on…then the chances are, there are 20 things happening where we’re not looking. I don’t reserve this judgement to the present Adniministration…it’s Washington…it’s how the game is played.

Answer #10

Of course there are degrees. Their is a difference about not wanting something public because it is might be politically damaging, and not wanting something public because you are hiding criminal behavior.
