How can I escape my drunk father?

My father is a drunk he is very violent and is a total jerk about things, he calls me names and all kinds of things. My mother died at age 13. I am currently mostly living with my best friend. I work for her mom and she doesn’t mind me staying here. My dad makes me see him once or twice a week and that whole time he bitches at me and all…I hate it so much. what age can I legally say “see you later, dad.”? I live in Michigan and every time I try he says he will call the cops. I am now 15 1/2.

my dad is a drunk to and I have wanted to leave many times but am only 13 and my mom is dead. tell your friends mom and ask her if you were to tell the police could you live with her and see what she says. I hope you have the guts to do what I cant. good luck and pray.

You’ll have to check your state but you probably have to be 18 to be under your own jurisdiction….you might want to consider setting up a hidden camera so you can document (prove) the abuse if it gets to the point where you must report it (if not there already).

Good Luck and God Bless !!

Greetings, Try contacting a foundation that’s made for this type of stuff. They can get you away from him at any age. If you wanted, you could even tell them you want to live wih your friend if they would accept you, I am sorry your father is soo mean, but just remember when you grow up and you have kids, if you do, remember how mean he was to you, and say to your self, I’m going to be soo good to my kids that they will love me sooo much more then I like my father. My dad was abused, and he has trouble talking about it so we don’t ask, but despite the war in Lebanon during when he was growing up, plus an abusive father that pointed a gun at my fathers brother, (but never shot) my dad still made it to medical school, and now he has acheived alot of things most people haven’t So the reason I told you this is because I wanted you to know, that even though your life may not be the best right now, when you re 18 or before that, if you want to contact a facility, yo should move out, and don’t waste time with him. Start a life of your own. -phil2611, Feel free to pm me or email me phil261111@hotmail.com I will enjoy talking to you
