How soon do baby kittens open their eyes and how much to feed?

How soon do baby kittens open their eyes. How how much should I feed Him, He was abandoned by His birth Mother.

Hi,

The kitten should open its eyes at about 8 days. The eyes will stay blue for about 2 more weeks. (The true eye color will not appear until the kitten is about 3 months old.)

Feeding can be done with an eyedropper or a nursing bottle (available at the vet). If using the eyedropper be careful not to force feed the kitten. Let the baby suck the fluid at its own pace, otherwise you can fill the baby’s lungs with milk and cause pneumonia.

Do not overfeed kittens, as this can bring on diarrhea as well as other problems.

The link below also has a feeding guide, which I cannot reproduce here.

At about 2 weeks the eyes should open. Kittens that young CANT GO POTTY ON their OWN.

Make sure before and after each meal you take a warm rag and wipe the kittens rear so it can go.

I have two 9 week old kittens I had to bottle feed from a day old.

You can go to the vet and get formula or get some at even a local walmart, it works just fine.

If you do got to walmart get the pre mixed formula, its easier make sure the mixture is right.

Never warm formula in a microwave, always use warm water and test the temp before giving it to the kitten.

It should be kept on a heating pad on a low setting, kittens need to be warm and feeding them when they are cold can be one of the worst things you can do.

Feed it every 3 to four hours, and this needs to be done for usually about four weeks or until it can lap up the formula out of a bowl.

It will tell you when its full, don’t take it away if it wants more. Kittens usually nurse and then fall asleep when full, so let them do this. Good luck!
