Any program that asks you to update too frequently or is triggered by key stroke patterns is usually a Trojan or a Virus. This can be particularly dangerous if you do things like banking on line. Some of them steal passwords and you could find your accounts emptied.
You need a good firewall and virus protection program. They should be set to automatically update to insure they're current.

im using java 6.26 and ive not updated it in over a month.
just checked and its stll the latest version.
just disable auto check for updates: start/windows key - control panel - [view by large or small items] java - update. untick 'check for updates automatically.'
Thank you very much dude I'll look into it. I have good virus protection service that I pay extra for and it does update and do scans on a regular basis. I don't bank or put any sensitive info on the computer, I'm old school and do as much business in person as possible.
