because I know that gelatin is made from bones...
and I was wondering if there was such a thing as vegan jello... or do I have to give up this jiggly treat?
I don't know how jello can be vegan in England - it's made the same way there as it is here, and all gelatin is an animal byproduct.
What you want to look for is something called "agar-agar". It's made from seaweed and actually sets much firmer than gelatin, so if you use it in a recipe keep that in mind.
You can make your own jello using 2 tbsp of agar-agar powder with a litre of fruit juice.
PETA told me it came from bones and hooves...
and I read it somewhere online.
and regardless of whether its the bones or connective tissue, its still gross to think about...
I love jello... but now that I know that its mad eout of ground up animal bones... and that makes me feel funny to eat it...
so is there an imitation gelatin that is vegan?
Well in england its vegan anyway, if it's not then you will be able to buy/make it so it's suitable for vegan's you can buy everything for vegan's now!
no way or at least I dont think so I mean come on but theres a lot other flavors in jello so you dont have to give it up unless you dont like it
Yes it is made from bones- actually the take it from the marrow of bones- it is derived from the collagen inside animals' skin and bones
Where do you think gelatin comes from??
It's not from the bones, but it is extracted from the connective tissue of animals.
wikipedia or anything can tell you just do a web search for gelatine and bones
it is NOT made of animal bones! who told you this?
oh dear God...I am NEVER eating jello again!
