Is she going to live?!

One of my friends overdosed last night in an attempted suicide. She won’t let me call 911 or tell an adult or anything. She thinks she can be okay on her own. She said that she took 3 Midol, 5 allergy meds (3 were from one brand and 2 were another), and one pain killer (I think it was Tylenol). Will she live without professional help?

Answer #1

RED FLAG !! - to the Dr asap !! - huge risk to ignore.

Answer #2

Omg she’s not going to die from that. sorry if I sound rude, but I’ve taken worse and I am still here :). it’s possible that the medications don’t work well together. she’ll get sick, but if things persist or get worse then she should be taken to the hospital. they will prob pump her stomach or giver her something to make her throw-up

Answer #3

You have a choice, you can either sit there and watch her destroy her own life and possibly end it or you can get her the help she needs. I know that it would be hard to get her help since she requested that you don’t but would it be easier to watch her die? Do what is right for your friend, she might be mad at first but eventually she will thank you.

Answer #4

Wow I know you don’t want to tell any professionals but she need help at least steer he in the right way toward help she needs it…

Answer #5

I’ve just confirmed with my husband (a doctor) that the mix and quantity of medication mentioned will do no harm other than make her kind of sleepy and clear her nose.

Answer #6

She took a nap during the day for a couple of hours, but I saw her constantly clutching her chest or placing her hands on her stomach.

Answer #7

Did she loose consciousness? If she is talking to you about not seeking assistance I think she should be OK however she should speak to a Dr or a counsellor if she is such a state that she attempts to take her own life.

Answer #8

go for a doctor..its not ok

Answer #9

it sounds like a desperate attempt to get attention. its kinda of funny in a way, trying to kill yourself by takin too much Tylenol and benadryl. if you dont tell her parents or authorities about your friends suicidal thoughts your friend will probably continue to “attempt” suicide in on a semi regular basis. people that do stuff like this are just dying(no pun intended) for people to pay attention to them.

Answer #10

She is probably feeling pretty bad mixing the medication she took but if she is able to take a nap and wake up afterwards it sounds like she won’t be dying today. Again though, she should be talking to someone about her state of mind. Even if it was just a call for help and not a real attempt on her life, she needs to address what lead her to those actions. There must be some anonymous Help Line in your area that she can call to talk to someone without having to let her parents know what happened.
