is it dangerous to get your toung pierced?

im 18 and I rele want one. but my mom said its dangerous because you have a lot of nerves etc and theres a risk you can damage them. also she said someone got paralyzed from it.. what do you think?? is there a risk?

I work at a dentist office and I see sooo many! you can have damage to nerve and a lot of people break teeth which can be costly to repair! oh and if you like talking with a LISP! lol just my 2 cents worth

There are also other risks AFTER getting it pierced. One of them being that your teeth will most probably be chipped/cracked sooner or later from biting on the jewelry either accidentally or playing with it.

I got one but I guess it depends but the majority of my friends have them and no one got paralyzed lol or infected but just watch what foods you eat and how you chew food and what you drink.

No not really,but my cousin did and it got infected and her tounge got all swolen.You won’t be able to eat any hard foods you got to stick to mashed potatoes,and just stuff like that.But it’s up to you?

Depends but most of my friends have it so I guess its ok. Just get your tongue pierced by a professional and ask him/her the risks and some helpful advice and tips.
