Is it cruel to put cloths on a dog?

Answer #1

Awww as long as it doesn’t bother the dog and trust me, some dogs don’t mind. My rot/lab, Max, he is a huge lover, I always put my big sunglasses and a hat on him~ <3

Answer #2

It’d be worse to make yo mama run around naked…

(sorry, couldn’t resist the opportunity for a yo’ mama joke)

Some dogs actually like it - small short hair dogs in cooler climates for example.

Answer #3

…and personally I think all the things lil_princess_4_lyf has for her dog are extreemly uneccessary…especially shoes, dogs dont need shoes thats not what a dog really needs

Answer #4

Some dogs need clothing just to stay warm in the winter…a sweater on a Chi, Dobe…and breed with short hair and no undercoat in Montana is almost a must…but I’d stay away from boots, hat, etc…I don’t think it’s “cruel” per se…but it’s irritating to the dog.

Answer #6

I don’t think it’s cruel at all. It gets very cold where I live and sometimes when I take my puppy for a walk, he comes home shivering. I put a sweater on him and snow shoes. Dogs do get sick. I don’t believe in my puppy being a fashion statement but I do believe in taking care of him.

Answer #7

not nececcarily but with most celebrities and overdressing there little dogs then yes theres no reason why you cant treat a dog, or buy ir somewarm to wear but dogs are not accessories its not something you should buy clothes and new jewelrey for, or carry around as an accessory its a dog its a resposibility, and its an animal it needs to live life as an animal its needs to be free, run around, interact with other dogs, just be a normal dog not some stupid fashion statment but generally no, its fine to buy it a warm jumper if you need to, and if it has short or no hair and needs it otherwise its just not neccessary

Answer #8

some dogs DO need boots in the snow. It keeps snow from becoming packed in their paws. if its not intended for keeping your dog comfortable, or is uncomfortable, than yes, I would say it is cruel.

Lol, it isnt, it can be annoying for the dog sometimes if it gets excessive, but it’s not cruel…

Answer #13

I have a sweater for my dog(Maltese) and we bought her a costume for halloween last year but she never wore it haha.

Answer #14

I think it is cruel. And I think dressing a dog is sad. I mean… a dog sweater??? that really annoys me. I think if you want, get the dog a sweater.. if the dog wants to wear it, let it put it on itself lol.

to each their own though… I suppose
