Is doubt the reason to evangelize?

I have been told by several practicing christians that they regularly experience doubt about their religion. They also say that it is helpful to know that there are plenty of fellow faithful to whom they can relate.

Could this doubt be the drive behind the ever present need amongst some faithful to evangelize?

Well, the point is, we all try to spread our beliefs, regardless of what they are. Religion is not unique in that regard.

it is true tho.people doubt because they havent fully read the Bible and fully understood it.thats why its good to ask a TRUE faithful christian or a pastor if you need help on a situation or a question…but in the long run…you’ll never know until you read the whole bible yourself. [=

It’s possibly a case of someone pushing their beliefs (the old “protesting too much”) because they’re insecure about their own beliefs… that’s an interesting thought…

personally I think it’s just hypocrticial pseudoconcern, where they dont really care whether you’re going to hell, they dont like you because you’re different, but they’re going to pretend to do the right thing because well it’s what a “good” christian does… but that’s the cynic in me…

oh and you might want to explain your question… most people dont seem to understand the definition of evangelize…

okay..yeah that may be true for SOME christians.not all of them.its the ones who say they are “christians” but really arent.they just think there is a God and thats it.they dont try to read the Bible or go to church or find out the REAL truths…and yes I know what evangelize means.I obviously wouldnt of answered this if I didnt [=

I think we all have a drive to ‘evangelize’ everything we believe. It seems to be human nature - an instinct to test our ideas and form coalitions.

I do it too, but not just with my religious ideas. I also ‘evangelize’ my political idea, my work related ideas, my ideas about how to raise kids, how to play a guitar, etc.

Answer #6

My dictionary says under ‘evangelize’: convert or seek to convert (someone) to Christianity.

Toadely, the difference between the acceptance of political ideas, work related ideas, etc. is that they do not require a believe in the suspension of the natural order. Religion does, and that might add the little bit of stress to one’s belief.
