You could also include the positive effects about media manipulation if used, such as getting people to calm down and preventing mass riots.

Well, you could write about how media reinforces heteronormativity, reiterates attitudes associated with white privilege and male privilege, and indoctrinates girls and women into people who hate their bodies. (I threw in some terms in there, you can look them up on wikipedia, I can’t post links here:) Those topics have been written on extensively, especially in feminist literature.

I can’t think of a specific one, but I was thinking that in the past the media have been used for example to catch serial killers to create a diversion or to work with the police in not giving out certain information to help apprehend suspects (note that these are rare cases, because the media likes to blab).
