maybe try washing your hair without using the conditioner they give you. if you try and dye your hair again with a lighter shade it could harm it more than help it, or you could go get your hair stripped which removes the color.

Ordinary blue food coloring from the baking section of the grocery store will help dramatically tone down the brassiness. It washes out easily.

Note: The drips can stain skin and clothes, so take precautions.

Mix 1 drop of blue food coloring with a bit of water and a dollop of mouse. Use a brush (like an old toothbrush) to mix it and apply to your roots & as desired. Allow it to air dry. (If you want to blowdry your hair, wear latex gloves so you don’t stain your fingers.) Voila! A color you can live with!

If the color looks too strong, use a wet washcloth to wipe the tint off your hair until it is the desired level.

You can also mix in a drop of red food coloring to make a brownish-violet color. This will also tone down the orange. Experiment to find the right combination for you. This will hold you over until you can afford to get it fixed.
