I'm terrified about death and what happens after

The one thing that truly terrifies me is that there is no afterlife. The idea that you die and nothing happens scares me so much. While we live, we have so much control, and it freaks me out that there isn’t one person who can tell us and know 100% what happens to us after we die. I have some faith..I believe in God, but at the same time I just don’t know for sure. I’m trying to find comfort in religion but I don’t know if it’s working, since I’m around so many atheists who try to convince me that there is no God. How can I put my mind and dread to rest?

your fearis natural and and you should fear like all of us. G-d has made a plan where you dont have to fear .its Hid plan of salvation. if you have a bible these are references to help you. G-d sent His Son john 3:16 , to pay our sin debt romans 5:8,9 and faith in His death burial and resurrection gives us eternal life romans 10:9,10 .and that we will know we are saved 1 john 5:13 .read one of the gospels matt, mark ,luke ,john and then read romans ,1 john , He will tell you what you need to know. we will pray for you :)

Everyone has some fear of death but if you are a christian and are truely saved then you will go to heaven. We really dont know what we will feel in heaven other than there will be no pain, sorrow, sin at any level. When you die your physical body is left and your soul will go to heaven we don’t know how or what we will look like or who we will know. I have asked these questions many of times and we just don’t know. God didn’t tell us exactly what we should expect but we will be happy and safe and God tells us this in the bible. All who believe in him will go to heaven when we die. Heaven is described as like the greatest place on earth so you will be happy and God will take care of you always. I hope this helps and when in doubt turn the the bible for help.

Everyone is terrified of there being nothing after death. I’m not going to tell you if I think there is anything after death. Just bear in mind this: life is a blessing, but that does not make death a curse. WIthout death could there even be life.

And does it scare you that you weren’t there before you were there? Why not? Because we are all caught up the here and now. By the end of your life, you will probably be glad of death. Don’t ask why, just wait and see, and in the meantime, have fun, and don’t waste your life worrying about death.

Answer #4

Seriosly? There is no real awnser. If your religous (like me) you still worry about going to hell. Just enjoy your life and be good. In my personal opinion love God and Chris but hey, thats just me.

you dont know whats after life until you die.. however just live by this motto “live as if you will die tomorrow, dream as if you will live forever”

I quite agree with Captainassassin’s words “A fear of mortality is one of the WORST reasons to practice religion”. In fact, plenty of people I have met follow faith so they are less afraid of things they don’t have the answers to.

The prospect of not existing shouldn’t be something to fear- none of us knows exactly when we’re going to die, but when it happens, there’s nothing you can do to stop it. Fearing it will only cause you to worry and waste your life away.

Answer #8

Face your mortality. It will motivate you to make the best of what little time you have, and will also make you grow emotionally.

There really is nothing after death. You live, you die, and then for the rest of eternity, you just don’t exist anymore…just like you didn’t exist for eternity past until you were born.

I use to think about it a lot to. It never really worried me, but it was something to think about. Then I decided for my self that what we as people are is very complex, we have memories and thought and being. The fact our bodies and minds work, no matter how we got to here is very amazing, every single one of us. So it does not seem to me that after we are done in this body we would just vanish and be gone for every, there is to much to just one day go poof.

Also I have had a personal experience in the after life with a NDE (near death experience). If you would like to hear and talk about it, you can PM thingy on here me.

Why worry about death, once your time is up, it’s up.……stressing over it would only creep you out…..Your so called friends are a tad silly, why do they need to convince you there is no God?… if they are your friends they should be happy being with you and vice versa regardless.

Sorry, side-tracking your topic a bit…but…did you see the news clip about a man walking across the zebra crossing and narrowly missed getting clean out by a runaway bus which had faulty brakes.? … NOW that poor guy wouldn’t be thinking about death EVER again, he would be living his life to the max. :)

I have some faith..I believe in God…

…which one?

but at the same time I just don’t know for sure.

…nobody does.

I’m trying to find comfort in religion but I don’t know if it’s working

A fear of mortality is one of the WORST reasons to practice religion.

since I’m around so many atheists who try to convince me that there is no God.

…then don’t talk about it with them…

How can I put my mind and dread to rest?

…if the only way you be at ease is to know 100% what will happen when you die. YOU CAN’T. The only other alternative is to become fairly deluded, and convince ‘yourself’ that you ‘know’ what will happen. Of course, this is pretty much the same as LYING TO YOURSELF, but people do it all the time around here…

don’t be terrified, because there is no way of knowing about the after. instead of spending time worrying about something that no one is really sure about, enjoy life. instead of thinking “what if” enjoy what you have now. I personally believe that your soul is alive forever…watch some of these videos, they may help:
