Is my husky pup going blind?

I have about a 5 wk old husky puppy a friend gave me and not even a wk after I had her she got this film covering her eyes, and her iris turned blue. I already took her to the vet and she doesn’t know. Does anyone have a puppy like this or could know what’s wrong? Please help?

Answer #1

Definitely take her to another vet. There’s drops that they can prescribe to help get rid of the problem. If you wait to long, then they may not be effective.

Answer #2

It sounds more like an injury to the cornea, to me…but that doesn’t mean it’s not an infection…TAKE HER TO ANOTHER VET!!! No matter if it’s from a scratched cornea, or an infection…she needs antibiotic drops…It sure wouldn’t fill me with confidence if the Vet I was going to, didn’t know…and didn’t bother to refer me to someone else who might know!!!

The one thing you DO want to do, is preserve her sight…and just “wondering” about it, without a medical opinion, might ensure that she does go blind, when it could have been prevented.

Take her to another vet or check out the website www.integrativet.com

Answer #4

When I got my malamute/husky pup at 7 weeks old she had cloudy eyes. They have cleared up and she is now 15 weeks and seeing fine. We use an animal eyewash/eyedrop to help keep hers and our others dogs eyes clear. Is she showing signs of not being able to see? Like is she hesitating when she walks? does she run into more things? Is she more skidish than normal? Those are signs that you need to worry. If it gets worse go back to the vet or go to a different vet for a second opinion.
