I need help figuring out a way to start a paper that has to be one of those stupid about me papers and I have never been good at starting papers as it is and about me ones are always hard because I don't want to start off like "I am. I live. My birthday is___." because that is cliche and won't sound good. by the way this is for a college application.
I agree. DO NOT start with something like, "I was born ..." Rather, start with something unexpected.
Think about your favorite experiences. Pick one which you can use to illustrate which qualities make you unique. Write 2-3 paragraphs about that experience, then invest the rest of your paper in showing how that experience is a "favorite" because it illustrates those unique qualities.
PLEASE think carefully about your audience and their intention. They don't want to know everything about you -- they have assigned this topic so they can judge your abilities to tell a good story, to organize your thoughts, and to learn how well you write the English language. They chose this topic for you only because it is so general that all applicants can write something concerning the topic.
So, understand who's going to be reading the paper, double and triple-check your spelling and grammar, start with something unexpected and interesting, and -- MOST IMPORTANT have fun! If you are writing about something fun, your readers will be impressed!

Use your imagination. This is how I started mine for a development class (although it was sort of a mix of personal experiences with research involved) The rest sound pretty good too. Try to be true to yourself. As cliche as that sounds.
