How to prepare for a career in (music) photography?

I am interested in becoming a professional music photographer. (also wildlife, fashion, ect. but music being my main interest). How would I prepare for a career in this, and succed in getting it? Also, if you know, what are some good colleges in new york city..or art schools? ps. I am only 16 but I think its time I start looking into something I might want to do as a living.

Well first. get a camera not a cheap one though. youll want to get one thats $500 or more that takes interchangeable lenses. second get lenses and filters for it. its not gonna be easy getting the funds for it so you might have to work a little bit in a different feild like well any part time job. after you got the camera go around asking people in bands around your area if they want to be photographed. do it for cheap at first or no money whatever your preference and as you progress up your prices. most cameras now a days are digital so I would suggest getting good editing programs too but yeah. youll get it I did something similar but it was djing music but its pretty much the same formula get equipment and then start doing it ameturely until it becomes a profession.
