my voice just started changing it took forever but back on topic would it help me get rid of it faster if I talked a lot less or does it not matter
The occasional vocal crack is to be expected during the period where your voice changes. :) Don't sweat it!!! People may laugh a little, or give you knowing smiles, but just remember that every man goes through it.
The only advice I can offer is to RELAX. Tension will actually cause the muscles in your throat to tighten (whenever we are afraid, angry, tired, or sad it causes a physical reaction in our throat) and make any cracking that does happen worse, or possibly even cause some that would have otherwise never happened!
When your voice cracks don't clear your throat, since that'll also cause the muscles to tighten. Just relax, take a deep breath low into your stomach, and continue where you left off :).
Now I do have another thought... I have no idea if it will help or not, but the reason our voices crack is that the muscles aren't used to their new length. So I would suggest doing what are called 'vocal sirens' where you 'sing' an "ee" or "ah" up and down just like a police siren alarm as high and as low as you can go. It's a singing exercise, and might help your throat muscles adjust and be more comfortable with the new length of your cords :).
GOOD LUCK! You'll look back and smile at this some day ;).
Maybe, try to talk less. Maybe if you stop talking for a while, your voice might change quicker then you think. Good luck!
