How to deal with family dying?

I feel so empty, and depressed…do people go to theropy after someone dies? My mom recelntly died, after she was living with us for a while. How do you deal with things like this? Have you ever had somone close to you die? I miss her so much=(

I’m so sorry to hear about your untimely loss. You are very young to have to experience the death of a parent. It’s one of the hardest things we go through in life, but it doesn’t usually happen this early. Grief is very hard work, and bereavement counselors will tell you it’s work that has to be done, either now, or later. Please don’t think there is anything abnormal about not being able to function properly for the next while. It won’t hurt at all to see a counselor - someone to talk to about your feelings. Sometimes other family members want to keep to themselves too, and not be made “upset” by another. That also makes it hard.

When I lost my dad, it felt like one of my limbs had been cut off. For about a year after, I burst into tears every time someone said to me, “I miss your dad.” Time does make things easier, but the loss will always be there. Eventually you learn to deal with it like an allergy in the sense that you work around it and eventually can function again.

I cant even imagine the pain you must be going through…but I did go throuh a death with one of my friends her mother died from cancer.. and she told me she will never get over it but the best way to deal with it is accept it yes I know easier said then done. my friend told she would rather her mom be in peace than in pain. and wouldnt anybody want that for the ones they love…

I can’t even begine to imagine what you are feeling. I am so sorry. It must be hard to live with this when everyone elses lives are continuing. I would think going and talking with someone who has studied and educated themselves on this subject through many years of school would help. I would try it if I were you. try to keep smiling. see the best in your everyday and try to remain thankful for the things you have in your life. again I am so sorry you have to experiance this. some people say that the things in life that does not kill us makes us stronger.
