How Long to stay on birth control?

I was told yesterday that Doctors were recommending only staying on birth control pills for a maximum of 5 years at a time because the risk of cancer goes way up. I’ve been on it now for about 5 and was wondering if anyone has heard of anything related to this

I have never heard of that, I just know that your risks of blood clots/cancer increase if you are above the age of 35 and you smoke. Also if your risks ever do go up while you’re on the pill then when you stop taking them your risks of getting the above diminish back to before you were taking the pill. If you are under 35 I don’t think you have anything to worry about. Ask your doctor to be 100% sure, I haven’t heard of anything like this though.
