Is it ok for me to dye my hair with box dye?

Ok, I have naturally auburny-brown hair and I want to reach as close to white blonde as I can so that I can use temporary color gels and such. Anyway, I was wondering of I could use box dye to gradually reach the color I want. I don’t really care how many times I have to dye it but I don’t want to overly damage it with bleach, and I can’t afford to go to a salon to get it done. Also I was wondering if there is a specific brand that would get me the most vibrant semi-permenent colors for when I start putting the colors (the pink, purples, blues, greens, etc.) in…

Dying it yourself could go horribly wrong. Bleaching your hair pretty much always carries a risk, I’ve had friend’s who have done it, and after they did it, their hair had about the consistency of straw, which is hard to fix. Worse yet, your hair could start falling out if you screw it up, but I doubt it would be that bad unless you like, fell asleep with it in. If I were you and you’re really serious about doing this, I would save my money so I could go to a salon to get it done, it’ll probably result in less damage done to your hair.

Like I said above, I cant AFFORD to go to a salon and get it proffessionally done, and I don’t really want to have to fix my hair from the bleach damage. I don’t really care that my hair could come out orange, but isn’t it MORE LIKELY that BLEACH would turn my hair orange? BTW, I said I am an auburny brown– Red medium brown with some really light strands. it’s weird, and I haven’t dyed it for years.

I also really want to GRADUALLY go to blonde because I think it would let me control the color process a little more. and I won’t scare my gramma into a heart attack the next time she sees me! Lol =}

Well, You could try it I guess, but you might get orange instead =/ It is true that bleach is bad for your hair, but if done professionally (and since your hair is already lighter brown) Bleaching it would probably only take one try to get it really light. I went from black to blonde and here’s what I got from bleach (pic attached) I would go to Sally’s

Hope I’ve helped!!
