How do I treat fluid in my dogs ear?

I can hear the fluid when I rub his ear vigorously. He will then always shake his head. he shakes his head often. I’ve cleaned the ear and there was little wax and dirt. what is the fluid and should it be left alone as a natural condition or do I have to rob a bank to afford a vet?

Answer #2

In other words, no one seems to know. Too bad I don’t have a vet friend who could answer the question. Gmaduck

Shaking of the head, and scratching ears is a sign of infection…if he’s doing these two things, then you do need to go to the Vet for an antibiotic ointment to put in his ears. I don’t suggest you rob a bank to go, however.

Call around, not all Vets cost the same…

It’s a sign of infection. Try the SPCA, they usually charge you at cost because they are a charity organisation, that way you won’t have to spend too much on a vet.
