How do I tell a male (widower)that he needs a makeover?

I met this wonderful man on a political site-I,m happily married-we,re just friends-via-emails-he is a widower-I,ve seen his photos-he needs a makeover badly-I was in the beauty business-don,t know how to tell him to sharpen himself up-without hurting his feelings-I want to help him to look as well as possible-so that he has a shot at finding a girlfriend-his apt. Looks like it needs a lot of help also-he has 3 cats-so I think he needs some advice-delicate advice-how do I do this-without losing my email buddy?

Well, I think you have to become closer to him like a good friend, you get me? and then maybe later on you can tell him and he wont have a problem with it. or you two can go shopping together and you know tell him what will look good on him and stuff.
