How do I get rid of nighttime anxiety?

I am diagnosed with anxiety and take medicine every morning but when I go to bed I get really really anxious and have short breaths. What are some techniques I can do so I can just go to sleep?!

Talk to your doctor, they can probably subscribe you with a sleeping pill or other medication to help reduce anxiety.

Other things you can try: Taking a hot bath before bed (try some lavender bath salts) Drinking chamomile tea No TV or computer 2 hours before bed time No soda or caffeine 4 hours before bed time Block all lights in the bedroom (turn the alarm clock around etc) Take slow deep breaths when in bed. (breath in slowly counting to 5, breath out slowly counting to 5)

You may also want to try yoga. It can really relax you and teach you how to calm yourself through breathing.

im also diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, and cant sleep. if your doc has not prescribed meds, ask about a bottle of clanazapam to be available to u ; one pill at bed time put me to sleep in half hour. another thin, to get your mind off watever your driving your self crazy about, try doing an exerisise called a relaxation exercices. its meant to remove your mind, from the physicsal effects of being anxiouse. ask your therapist, or go on the net and type in “relaxation exersises.” self talk is also very importat. if you start to “worry” while lying in bed, just tell urself that everything seems worse at night time when you think abut it, and that you are ok. nothing is going to happen between now and the morning.
