How do I deal with this problem?

Both me and my girlfriend are in the military. Im deploying in april and come home around november/december…I found out today shes going to be deploying a few months after I come back. I dont know how im going to be able to handle this. I love her more than anything, weve been dating for 7 months now, and I plan on marrying her later on down the road, but this is going to be extremely hard for both of us. Im going to only be with her about 5 out of the next 16 months. I don’t know what to do.

It does seems hard and difficult right now. It will feel like that up to like a month or so into your deployment. Then you will notice a shift taking place where being deployed and in a foreign land becomes your reality and all you left at home even thought it is dear to your heart will no longer seem as real and you will find yourself adjusting to your new deployed life. Then when you get back home and to your girlfiriend everything will feel foreign even her. For a little while at least. She will go thru the same.

What I am saying is, you will adjust, even tough it doesn’t seem possible right now.

Just accept that this has happened like it has. It will give you something else to have in common. You will still get to talk to her and all, I’m sure not as much as you’d like but it’ll be alright. Everything will work out.

You know, maybe this is a test to see how much you both love each other. Just have faith and just give your relationship the best you can, after all love conquers all.
