How come getting tattoos/piercings don't hurt?

It perplexes me when people say that getting their tattoo or piercing didn’t hurt. I mean, pain is the body’s natural response to injury to let you know that something is wrong.

If one is not able to feel pain, that can be a dangerous state to be in because you may go longer without treatment for whatever ailment they may have.

I have 2 sleeves and have had 11 holes poked in my body. I’m the first to admit that I experienced pain. I understand everyones tolerance for pain is different, but to say it does not hurt at all is just weird to me. Did your bod mod really not hurt, or are you trying to put on a strong face?

Ouch! Slow piercings are the worst!

Answer #2

Only have one tattoo across my back and It did not hurt. The muscle spasm the nerves were causing in my armpit was more of an annoyance. But I have a very high pain tolerance. Walked around for over a year with a torn ACL. I will admit my Anti-Tragas piercing was painful. It took the girl over 30 seconds just to get the needle through my ear though. Don’t think she had the muscle to push it through quickly.

I had tats on my hands too…

these have been removed by laser around 5 years ago and the removal hurt more than having the art pocked into my skin with a power needle traveling at the speed of light :o

anyone that says they dont hurt id just say they were trying to be a ninja :S
