How can I make a newspaper dress?

a dress made out of newspaper, no offense, sounds kind of stupid to me. if you have money you should just by clothes that are guaranteed not to fall apart in the wind while your walking down the street so you can stand there naked in front of everyone, or one that wont wilt if the edge of it falls into the toilet (which would be pretty gross with any clothing). so yah.

Funadvice: “no offense, sounds stupid.” The phrase “sounds stupid” IS offensive, and you’re missing the point. Also, to BUY something is spelled differently than to stand BY something. And, while we’re at it: “while YOU”RE walking” is something YOU ARE doing, rather than something that belongs to you, like, for example, YOUR bad grammar. Some offense meant, you sound stupid!

Check out this one I made, folding the newspaper in to strips and fitting it to a dress mold is the best way. This dress laces up the back, hope you like it.

Okay I just have to say. Good job coming back on that rude comment. Seriously!!! And in terms of how to make a newspaper dress I am really interested in it too. I think what would make the most sense is to take a dress you really like, and cut out the basic shape of it. Make an outline. And work around that with the newspaper. I’m going to try that.

Actually, hatchet9, it’s “you’re”, not “you”re”. You put a speech mark instead of an apostrophe. Not so clever as you thought now are you?

So it may sound stupid but it is fun and necessary if its for a project. I need to make one for an April Fools fashion show. It is a dress for one day. It does not need to last for a long period of time and does not need to meet the requirements of a dress made of fabric. If you do not have a pattern or do not know how to make one, why did you answer? Your thoughts are you thoughts and you are free to your own opinion but no one else wants to hear it. If you don’t have anything positive to contribute then DON’T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!

Since this topic is so old, I assume you have solved your own question. But I made a newspaper dress, or rather a skirt and bodice, the later with a paper pattern, deliberately over-sized since newspaper is weak. The skirt also with a paper pattern, but supported with tape to strengthen it.
