How can I housetrain my female Manchester Terrier?

I have two Manchester terriers, a male and a female. The female absolutely refuses to use the bathroom outside. She loves to go out, but when she’s out there, she will not go, and all she does is run around and play. I have had no problems with the male. He has always been good about going outside. I have tried everything I know to train my female, to no avail. How can I train her to go outside instead of in the house?

my pup is in obedience classes, we were told to take your dog out and tell them to ‘go pee’ when they do and they just stand from the squatting position put a piecve of kibble in her mouth and tell her good girl, keep doing this everytime you take her out and she goes, in no time she will be trained.

Hi,

There are a few things you can try. For one, take her out at very regular intervals at the same time every day. If she goes inside, punish her by yelling at her, but when she goes outside, praise her. Also, if you get those puppy pee pads from petstores, you should put them around the house and slowly move them toward the door as she learns to use them. Another thing I did for my puppy was attach a little bell to the door with a ribbon, and I would ring it every time we’d go outside. Now, she rings it with her nose when she has to go…but it took about a year for her to learn that, so be patient.
