How can I ask my mom to let me go on birth control when it is not because I want to have sex. I have moderate acne that I only get around my period and I get cramps. I think it would help and when I eventually have sex (it won't be for a long time) but when I do, it will be good to already be on the pill. How can I bring it up and make her understand it is not for sex?
Don't get on it unless you want the most irregular periods in the world after you try to get off of it. Almost every girl gets acne before their periods and there are other ways to deal with it. It's your hormones fault, and girls are doomed with it until menopause I guess. I was on Yaz and Yasmin before and it didn't help with any premenstrual symptoms and especially not acne. I also noticed a lot of other little things. I tried getting off of it last year and I didn't have a period for 7 months b/c of it and during that time, I would get cystic acne and terrible breakouts. Without having a period, it irregulates your hormones too making you depressed and what not. Not fun! I am trying again to completely stop taking it. If you want to be safe, use a condom or really trust the person you're with. I didn't take my pill for ONE day and got pregnant from missing it just once, but I was taking it on all the days I was supposed to before and after. Although, that's another story lol. Bad reactions maybe? I don't know, but medications these days lure you in with false advertisement and promises that aren't realistic. It's all in your head sometimes and really think about it and do some research before you make your decision. I wish I had!
if you have an understanding mom then you should be fine. but birth control pills don't always control everything. it usually messes with your periods. but just sit hr down and talk to her about it. good luck.
