What do I really get out of my hourly wage after all the deductions?

So, my friend and I both got hired at Target (lucky us!). Haha. Anyways, they are starting me off at $8.50 and hour. And when they made me sign up for um.. what was it called, i dont even know, taxes im guessing… anyways i chose the “Single 0” selection because the lady explained it as, if I choose “Single 0” i get less on my paycheck, but more in taxes. If I chose “Single 1” Id get more on my paycheck but less on my taxes, plus i could possibly OWE in the end. Anyways, so what will my final hourly wage be after all expenses taken off? Im curious! Thanks :)

Ooh it was called “W-4” that i filled out. If that helps.

It averages about 7.00 per hr, my bf gets 9 and we just figured his real hourly wage and its 7.25 so I’m guesstimateing urs will b about 7.00 per hr, and congrats on gettin the job

claiming 1 on your W-4 means that you are dependent on yourself and that you need the money on your paycheck in a right now kind of basis. Taxes are with-held by you until tax time, when you must itemize and claim as many individual deductions to try to pare down your yearly tax burden. Claiming zero means that you pay your taxes automatically out of each check and can operate and budget with what you get. When tax season rolls around there’s a good chance you will get a tax return based on yearly adjustments to national taxation averages. I recommend you file zero and take a little less so you can get a bit more later…
