Do you have to go to the hospital for child birth?

or what happens if you have it at home?idk just curious

Answer #1

You can have a home birth. I would talk to a doctor about it though for more information. Your whole house needs to be sterile or at least where you are having the baby. I do believe that the baby has to go to the hospital afterwards though. For check-up. & there is 1 shot a newborn baby has to get.

They will have to take their baby to the hospital or call 911 during the process,, or right afterwards because all newborns need to be checked and stuff… myy mom also told me teens can get arrested for not going to the hospital, if they dont because the baby can die if it doesnt immediately have care

lots of people have at home births and they get a midwife to take care of them, or there are birthing centers which is more comfortable than a hospital for many and the mid wife assist their.

Hi, that depends on where you live.

As far as I know unassisted births are illegal in several states of the USA (because you endanger your child) if the parents plan it. Of course if a birth happens suddenly and goes so fast that you don’t have time to go to hospital that is not illegal. But you can give birth at home (or in a doctors practice) if a doctor and a midwife is present in most states of the USA.

The laws in most European countries are different. Some of them even favor home birth over hospital birth. In fact up to the 1940ies, home birth was the standard and hospital birth was the exception in most European states.

I had one of my kids in a “birth house” (that’s a special hospital run by midwives where only births and birth-related illnesses are treated, no other patients. I don’t know whether these exist where you live.). And I had the other kid born at home with the assistance of a midwife and no doctor - which is completely legal in Germany, unless you are classified a “risk birth” (mother or child ill, mother older than 36, twins or more and the like). In that case it is illegal for the midwife to assist that birth while not trying to make the mother go to hospital. It is not illegal for the mother however.

Answer #6

I did have a home birth, assisted by a midwife. My home did not have to be sterile. Clean, yes. Sterile, no. The baby did not have to go to the hospital but the first check-up was done by the midwife. And the pediatrician visited me for the second check-up a couple of days later. They also did all the necessary medication. But laws are different in different countries. And you’d probably have to go to a hospital in almost any country if you had a sudden, unassisted, unplanned birth at home. :)
