Can herpes be transmitted even without an outbreak?

HI! I had cold sore two years ago, and I haven’t have any outbreaks since. My lip is completely normal and I totally forgot that I can have herpes. I have been dating this girl for couple months. I want to ask will I transmit herpes to her if I kiss her eventhough I don’t have any cold sore or outbreak? Since we date she never had cold sore on her lips. Does that mean I didn’t transmit herpes to her? Also, recently I perform oral sex on her vigina where I quickly kissed her vigina couple times. I’m afraid I will give her genital herpes, please help me. I guess the real question that I want to ask is that, Can I transmit herpes to some one else eventhough my cold sore was heal for a long time? If it can, then does that mean that who ever have herpes they can never kiss anyone again? Please help me, I really worry.

Actually yes, you could have given it to her, but its severity would depend on the symplex. The herpes symplex virus 1, or HSV1 is most commonly associated with the mouth. HSV2 is moreover associated with the genitals. Although the symptoms of both viruses have a few similar attributes they are both seperate types of herpes so the range of a crossover infection (mouth to geitals, vice-versa) may not be as severe as an infection from the same area (ie, mouth to mouth). you should read this article or talk to your doctor to get a hand making a plan for lifestyle choices due to this virus. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herpes_simplex
