How can I drop some weight?

I am 24 years old 5'2" and just hit 154 lbs!!! I need help- I have an event coming up in a little over a month and would love to drop about 20 lbs before hand so I can look close to normal. Somehow, I have gained an amazing 39 lbs since january of this year!!! I run every evening and have recently joined a gym- please fill me in on how to drop the weight quick!!! thanks :- /
