does sound like anal glands, but it also could be some sort of growth that could be or may not be life threating.

Answer #2

I agree with Magichalo. It sounds like your dog needs his anal glands expressed. Not a job for the squeamish.

Answer #3

Could be hemroids

Answer #4

Dogs have two glands or sacs located at about 5 o clock and 7 o clock to the anus. The openings of the sacs are found by drawing down on the skin of the lower part of the anus. By applying a small amount of pressure directly below these openings, fluid can be expressed.

Most people and I am sure you are one, take their dog to the Vet to have these glands emptied.

I can tell you how to empty these sacs the smell can be overwhelming and infection could be present so unless you are really wanting to express them yourself, I would go to the Vet.
