What should I do about these thoughts?

ok, a couple years ago my sister died and she died very traumatically. and her birthday was the other day. my mom and grandpa were talking earlier about how if she were still alive, we would be best friends and she would be taking me everywhere and how much I am like her! she said that is a very good thing but when I think about her, the way she died pops in my head and it makes me sad. sooo what do I do?

Answer #1

try and focus on the happy times the two of you shared. you will never forget the way she died, but with time it will be easier to remember her as she was when she was alive and with you. be sad when you feel like being sad- but always keep the good times you shared with your sister with you, everyone is different in the way they deal with loss- accept that, do whatever it takes to get YOU through the mourning process- cry, scream, whatever it takes. eventually the cherished memories will replace everything bad, and you will have a sad but fond smile when you remember your sister. and keep doing what you are doing right now- TALK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE FEELING, with people here- AND ESPECIALLY YOUR FAMILY- you have all lost a part of your lives, and are sad- stick together and talk each other through it and you will be fine.

well she was walking with her friend from getting ice cream, and a man driving who was on drugs, lost control nof his car and swirved right around her friend and hit my sister and she died at the hospital.

Don’t forget her, just try to remember the good times, I am soo sorry about your sister. How did she die?
