Has anyone heard of Cushing's Disease?

Hi,

I was just wondering whether anyone has ever heard of Cushing’s Disease or know someone that has or has had it. Not the one that animals get but the one that humans, mostly females get.

I’m really curious of how many of you actually know about this. If you don’t please tell me that you don’t. I just want to know how many of you that read this know about it.

melinda, no actually I don’t know anyone who has it nor do I have it. I’m studying it in school though!

Yes I have. Cushing’s Disease is a disease of overproduction of a substance cortisol. Symptoms of cushings are a big belly with thin legs. The stomach will have purple stretch marks (specific for this disease). There may also be moon like facies (which means a round face). Other symptoms include Hypertension, hyperglycemia (high blood sugar), osteoporosis, menstrual cycle stopping, and immune suprression which can make them susceptible for infections.
