Is it hard to get into Rutgers Newark from out of state without extremely good grades?

Answer #1

Schools look at more than just grades. Have you demonstrated superior intellect in other ways like being a champion debtor or chess player? Have you demonstrated citizenship through doing charity or community service work? Have you been a leader in high school clubs, class president, etc.? Have you patented an invention or started your own business? Are your teachers, school administrators, mayor, governor, senator, and/or representative going to write glowing recommendations for you?

College admissions are competitive and Rutgers is a prestigious school who can afford to be very picky. You might get in with dodgy grades if you can blow their socks off in other areas.
