What would happen If a doctor suddenly had a heart attack while doing surgery, would the other doctors work on the doctor or the patient?

Answer #1

I’m sure they would get someone to take care of both the doctor and another to take care of the patient. They’re in a hospital, I’m sure they can rush some in.

Answer #2

good question…. hmmm im not sure but when a surgeon is doing surgery isnt he the only surgeon onsite, usually? so yeah i think a very, very quick page/phone call would be in order to another surgeon. either that or rely on an intern :S

Answer #3

Firstly there are few nurses in the operation theatre who are there to help the doctors with certain things, they can call somebody and somebody else will carry the doctor into emergengy. The doctors who are doing the surgery can continue their surgery the,and there is nothing wring if the doctors stopped the surgery for five minutes or more as the patient is sleeping,he has been given anesthesia. So,i can say there are a lot of people around the hospital to help everybody.

Answer #4

That’s a good question haha. I guess they would have to call emergency and get the doctor out. They would have to sew up the patient again as if the doctor died they wouldn’t know why right away and it may be contagious and harmful to the patient.

Answer #5

*wrong

Answer #6

Well, hopefully, they would recognise the symptoms leading up to the heart attack before it actually happened! But there would be someone around to assist, certainly the anaethetist if no one else. Afterall, in an operating theatre, the anaethetist is the one in charge.

It’s a very complicated situation . Patient totally depend’s on doctor, and if doctor is in that situation then he will treat first itself or take the medicine first and then after operate the patient.
