Its commen for a newborns belly butten to have drainage after the umbilicale cord falls off. It does drain and crust up during the healing process and is completely normal.
If the belly butten seems red, swollen, has a foul smell, is bleeding, or still has a piece of the umbilicle cord stuck after the rest has fallem out the baby needs to see a doctor asap.
With newborns anytime you aren't sure or are worried its always best to call your doctor and make an appointment. Infections can get very serious in a newborn very fast because they are so small and their immune systems are not fully developed.
This is something the parents should go to a doctor with. Yes- umbilical chord scars can become infected. As Mackenzie said, any infection in a baby is serious.
Well tha baby is burly a month old and her belly botton is infected I guess her mom doesn't clean it the right way or take care of her daughter right:l
See now i'm assuming you mean when it's a new born and it's still an open wound. Not if it somehow got infected while a woman is pregnant.
I think any infection in a new born is bound to be pretty bad. You'd need to bring it to the doctor immediately.
