Good Horror Movies.

Preferrably something from the 2000’s, as anything before then just doesn’t do it for me.

I’ve seen

The Exorcism The Exorcism of Emily Rose Resident Evil 1/2/3 (if you consider them horror) The Eye earlier today I saw Cannibal Holocaust which was a screwed up movie. Someone said it was a horror movie somewhere on here and all it was, was animal killings and rape..and the animal killings were real o.O The Ring 1/2 The Grudge 1/2 Saw 1/2/3/4 and I’m sure tons more.

Can you suggest some good ones I maybe haven’t seen? :(

Answer #1

haha why not make some suggestions…

I already did… pay more attention…

Answer #2

whoever says there hasnt been any good horror in the 2000’s they havent seen rob zombys house of a thousand corpses and devils rejects. My personal favorites. Robs style of directing is very dark gritty and REAL. No glamourous hollywood, its very real violent and gruesome. Also quinten tarrantino makes insanelys gruesome movies like both hostels.

Answer #3

The last movies that GENUINELY scared me were ‘The Shining’ and ‘Alien’ …the most recent film to come close to scaring me was ‘Event Horizon’ (1997)

There have been movies (suspense) that have creeped me out also:

  • The Mothman Prophecies
  • Donnie Darko
  • What Lies Beneath
  • Frailty
Answer #4

…why would I ‘yell’ at you?

But I’ve seen 28 Days/Weeks later. I liked them a lot.

Answer #5

Twenty-eight days later.

Oh my gosh don’t yell at me if you’ve seen it, and you hated it! haha, I’m just giving you a suggestion.

Only zombie movies scare me. So there the only ones I really watch…

Answer #6

The Descent 28 Weeks Later Dead Silence 30 Days of Night Ghost Ship Hostel Pathology

Answer #7

wow captainass, who blew a load in your cornflakes.haha why not make some suggestions…thats the whole purpose of this website, not to rudely criticize others opinions. I didnt find robs movies overly gruesome and I also thought they had solid storylines.Anyway, I agree that a lot of older movies are more creative in finding ways to scare you. The shining as someone said was great. Kujo is good . Its all a matter of opinion as the captains comments have shown us. Movies have different effects on everyone

Answer #8

whoever says there hasnt been any good horror in the 2000’s they havent seen rob zombys house of a thousand corpses and devils rejects

Yeah… I did… they were crap.

No glamourous hollywood, its very real violent and gruesome. Also quinten tarrantino makes insanelys gruesome movies like both hostels.

That’s the problem… a GOOD horror movie, will not ‘pour on the gore’ to make up for a crappy or generic storyline.

Besides, if all you care about is gore, there’s nothing better than ‘’Brain Dead’’ (a.k.a. ‘’Dead Alive’’ in the U.S.)

Answer #9

first off its called the EXORCIST as for good horror hmmm there havent been any good ones lately, the hills have eyes 1 and 2 the mist (this one goes into psychological as well) freddy vs jason (though I think youd have seen this one) outpost land of the dead (and any other ‘of the dead’ series) planet terror (kinda horror)

thats all I remember for now, and yes RE 1-4 are action and not horror…dumb hollywood

Answer #10

prom night was a scary one and any movies with lindesy lohan lol

Answer #11

dude you are doing yourself a complete disservice by not watching horror films before 2000, but if that’s your deal.

one film I enjoyed after 2000 was The Orphanage

I see this is a very old post so if no one sees this reply I won’t be surprised. So first I’m gonna start by saying that everyone has different tastes in ALL movie genres and horror is certainly not an exception to that. With that said I feel if you are a true MOVIE buff like me you will be open to see any movie in any genre from any year. I have seen many good, bad and interesting horror movies in my day. Here are just a few.

GOOD (ones I like): The Prince of Darkness (1900) Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1920) The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) The Phantom of the Opera (1924) The Tell-Tale Heart (1934) Dracula (Bela Lugosi 1931) Voodoo Devil Drums (1944) The Body Snatcher (1945) Them! (1954) House on Haunted Hill (1959) The Tingler (1959) Psycho (1960) The Birds (1963) The Comedy of Terrors (1963) Night of the Living Dead (1968) Rosemary’s Baby (1968) The Exorcist (1973) Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things (1973) (this one falls somewhere in good only because it’s sooo bad category. Any one into ‘bad cult classic’ horror should wath this and revel in it’s amazing horrible-ness.) The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) Jaws (195) Carrie (1976) The Omen (1976) The Hills Have Eyes (1977) Dawn of the Dead (1978) Halloween (all 1978-2002 except #3) Alien (1979) The Fog (1980) Friday the 13th (we’ll say all 1980-1993 I won’t count the others) A Nightmare on Elm Street (all {yes I’m into corny slashers} 1984-1994) Cat’s Eye (1985) The Fly (1986) It (1990) The People Under the Stairs (1991) Candyman (1992) The Tommyknockers (1993) The Stand (1994) The Shining (1997) Psycho (1998) The Ninth Gate (1999) Stir of Echoes (1999) Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001) Thir13en Ghosts (2001) 28 days/weeks later (2002/2007) Cabin Fever (2002) White Noise (2005) Silent Hill (2006) Number 23 (2007) The Orphanage (2007) P2 (2007) Vacancy (2007) The Eye (2007) One Missed Call (2008) Paranormal Activity (2007/9)

Ok so maybe its a LOT not just a few, and I only got through less then half of the ones I like…

“first off its called the EXORCIST”

I’m aware, but thanks for your retarded and unnecessary correction. After I put down The Exorcism of Emily Rose it got me thinking “People are going to put down the Exorcist” and I copy/pasted quickly.

“and yes RE 1-4 are action and not horror…dumb hollywood”

When Resident Evil one came out, I would’ve considered that a Horror movie.

When Resident Evil 2 came out, I would’ve considered it a mildy entertaining action movie with a sort of Horror twist.

When Resident Evil 3 came out, I disregarded that Horror was ever a genre goal for Resident Evil.

And I’m sorry but you need to have the IQ of a dried up tangerine if you think Freddy VS Jason was a “scary movie”. It was a retarded fanboy slasher vs slasher film, filled with boobs and drugs, nothing more, nothing less.

Again, I put down movies, I thought, may have been suggested. So, thank you kindly sir, now jump off my nuts.

If someone can give me a widely accepted movie before the 2000’s, I’d watch it. Two issues I have are

  1. I’m watching these movies on a website that has hundreds of thousands of videos - unfortunately, the movies that they find are usually 2000 and on, though some are earlier. and
  2. I’ve asked this question before a few years ago, and I’ve gotten answers like “DRACULA GOES TO MCDONALDS 3 OMG I KNOW IT SOUNDS DUMB BUT ITS really really KOOL” and it turns out Dracula Goes To McDonalds 3 wasn’t a good movie.

If the movie isn’t a piece of * basically, sure, throw it at me.

Answer #15

Dude in all honesty, except a few ones captain assasin suggested the rest of the suggestions are absolutely SHITE ! a real horror movie fan would not like them, 1408 in my opinion was good, and the strangers was half decent althought the ending ruined it badly ! a bit of a disturbing movie yet good was Madhouse , but I agre with you older movies just dont scare me ! aka… Shining

Answer #16

I see this is an old forum, but things still need to be said.

Also quinten tarrantino makes insanelys gruesome movies like both hostels.

only prob with is that it was Eli Roth, not Quinton Tarrentino.

GOOD horror movies are hard to find, but MOST the Saw films, The Descent, the new Friday the 13th wasn’t too bad, Audition, and I’m looking forward to seeing Trick ‘R Treat.

Answer #17

dude cabin fever is one of the worst movies I have ever watched…I like all of the Halloween movies (besides the newest 1)…um all the Friday the 13ths…and ghost ship…etc

Answer #18

I’ll check them out, thanks.

Answer #19

watch the it its a clown movie hes a birthday clown who has gone insane and kills and eats kids he has weird creepy smile with the original sharp canine teeth and its just really scary and susipicious kind of movie but I think you will like it so just go rent it and enjoy crappin your pants

Answer #20

The movie “From Hell” starring Johnny Depp was pretty horrifying, if you will. Although I do not know if you would consider it a horror movie, but it’s a great movie none the less. It’s about the Jack The Rippers murders that took place in Whitechapel, London in 1888.

Dawn of The Dead (2004) was cool. It was a great remake.

If you’ve seen/enjoyed saw, you might like these movies: Cube (the series) House Of 9.

The movie “Stay Alive” was pretty good.

Uh, if you like the teen slasher movies you’d like the movies -Cry Wolf -Scream (1,2,3) -Final Destination (1,2,3) -9 Lives -Urban Legends (1,2)

The movie “Drag Me To Hell” was really good. A lot of jumpy parts. Then again, I saw it in theatres so maybe the big screen and loud volume contributed to my jumping, but, it’s still worth the watch.

Anyways, I hope you’ve found my message (considering you posted this a while ago).

Hope you enjoy the movies.
