Alright here is something we have all heard all of our lives, "If you do not live your life according to God's rules you will live for eturnity in hell"
My asertation is this, how can an All Loving Father (God is LOVE) punish his children for eturnity for not following his rules?!? I am not an All Loving father and I could NEVER punish my children FOREVER for anything, so how can God unless he truely is a BAD FATHER?
If we are not punished forever then the bible must be a lie or there has been a conspiracy to mistranslate the Bible since 1611. And if it is a mistranslation what else has been mistranslated? Are there billions of people that have their entire life based on a lie?!? Oh well I just had to post this to see what others would think so here it is, what do you think?!?
Depends on what got you're referring to. In this case, you seem to be referring to the bible...ah, but what version? King James? New international standard? American?
Then, there is the issue of translation...are you referring to the Torah part of the bible, aka, the old testament, or the new testament?
And given the various languages the bible was written in...there aren't any solid resources that I'm aware of that have good analysis of the various possibilities of translation from the language it was written in, to the language we're speaking now.
As an example: I'm reasonably fluent in Spanish, but some concepts simply don't exist in English as they do in Spanish. So, by tranlsating, you lose inherent meaning.
Given the dates of the languages in question, something must have been lost along the way. So...to answer your question: it's up to your personal interpretation. Do what you think is right, be it in the bible, in the sky, in the computer...or in your heart.

God in teh old testiment does sound very destroying, it's not to be taken literally, it's all written by the Isrealites in teh old testiment, and it's just really proverbal. There is only one of God's rules you must follow in order to not spend eternity in hell..and that is to be saved. God is certainly not a bad father. He is actually the exact opposite. He loves us no matter what we do, and if you repent of your sins and ask Jesus into your heart, God will have mercy on you no matter what you have done.
God has to have a place for sinners. Do you think Hitler deserves to live peacefully in Heaven? God is an all forgiving god, if you repent your sins, no matter what they may be, He will forgive them. Hell is mostly for extreme sinners such as Hitler, Saddam Hussein, and Osama Bin Laden.
well then why in the bible does god burn donw villages of homosexuals? -.o
