Would glasses stop me from getting headaches whilst being on my laptop?

Right now I have a headache and I get them quite a lot when I have been on my laptop. I have my brightness turned as low as it will go but it does not help and I do take breaks. Do you think I might need some sort of glasses?

Generally, if you are supposed to wear glasses, and you don’t… things like reading will cause you to get headaches. So, yes… it is quite possible you need glasses and getting them will help with the headaches.

However, you should visit you eye doctor to determine whether or not you need glasses. This could just be a case of your eyes getting too tired.

You mean glasses like those of reading glasses? If you do not have any problem with your sight I do not think you need glasses. If the headache is due to the brightness of the laptop, (as I do too) try to avoid being in the dark room when with laptop. If you mean glasses to reduce the brightness from the laptop, it is a good idea but will a bit bother you if you do not used to it. I don’t know if it is sold there in your place, but we have this kind of plastic attached to the laptop screen designed to reduce the brightness of the laptop.

Do you still get headaches when reading the newspaper/books/magazines? If not, then it’s not your eyes, it’s the computerness of the computer. Lol. You could try talking to an optometrist ad have your eyes tested just in case, but I’d say you are just one of those unlucky people who get headaches from a screen.

Answer #4

I would go to an optomotrist and have your eyes checked to see if you need glasses, and if you don’t it could be something else the eye doctor may or may not be able to help you with

Answer #5

Go to the optician (you should go once every two years anyway, so see if you are due) and get an eye test. It is very possible that it could be a problem with your vision that means you are having these issues, because often you will not notice your vision is weak until you try on lenses and realise they help and how things should look. Your optician will be able to help and advise you on how to look after your eyes if it is not a problem with your vision that causes this.

You could have eye strain if not. Just take regular breaks from the computer (5 mins every half an hour at least- maybe go and get a drink or snack to get you away for a short while) and work in a well lit room. It is a common problem and just means you need ot learn to adjust your habits a little.
