I heard they were better for your nails so I got one and it does feel kinder to my nails compared to a normal one. But why is this?
Well, to be honest...the site you gave a link to was not the only site I read when finding an answer. I read several articles, and combined them...where does it say "They're easier to clean and sterilize. Simply place them under running water, and rub with your fingers to clean. Glass nail files can be sterilized with heat." in the article you gave a link to? I couldn't find it. Not trying to argue, I'm just saying I didn't copy and paste, nor did I get all of my answer from the same website. Whenever I do copy and paste an answer, I cite my source, as I get that answer from one page. This answer came from many different pages...so I didn't feel the need to cite each page I read.

[There are all of the websites I used.]
My aunt uses glass nail file, so I thought I would add that when you are rinsing them under running water, you should rub it with your fingers..because when you just run it under running water, it doesn't get it completely clean. Rubbing it clean with your fingers will prevent build up, so you can avoid having to clean them later on with a brush and detergent.
"...Therefore, glass nail files never become worn down." I'll admit, there aren't too many other ways to say that, but it still counts. "...Nail files made of steel typically cause the nail to chip or to crack because they are too rough on the nail. Glass nail files, on the other hand, help reduce the amount of chipping, splitting, and peeling when used on a regular basis." The sentences are pretty much just inverted, and the transitional phrases are changed. It still counts.
Unlike ordinary nail files, glass nail files never become worn down.
Glass nail files help reduce the amount of chipping, splitting, and peeling when used on a regular basis. While nail files made of steel usually cause the nail to chip or to crack because they are too rough on the nail.
They're easier to clean and sterilize. Simply place them under running water, and rub with your fingers to clean. Glass nail files can be sterilized with heat.

Ah thank you, two of mine chipped so hopefully no more! :D
I only cite my sources if I copy and paste.
No problem.
Thanks.
