Can anyone give me advice on my computer hardware problem?

So I think I might have a hardware problem with my computer. What happens is when I turn it on that it freezes and that the screen then shuts down. I formatted the pc and it still happens. I got new SATA cables, because I thought that it might be the cables (which are about 2 years old) but that didn’t help. I removed the RAM and cleaned it (I have 4 GB of RAM) and it still happens. Could this be my graphics card or does anyone have any other suggestions. I don’t have the money to take the computer to any type of shop so I would like to fix it myself. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

Thank you.

Answer #1

That points to some bad RAM.

Answer #2

please remove the graphics card safely then use the on board socket , if the problem is solved then it is some kind of problem with the graphics card , if the problem still persist then , boot your computer press f8 go to safe mode then set the resolution to lower levels maybe this will help .

Answer #3

Thanks. I’ll do that.

Answer #4

Thing is my RAM chips are only 2 years old. Is that old? I’ll go buy some new ones though, thanks.

Answer #5

Remove half of the ram chips (if the computer will work without the other 2).

Swap them around. That will help to diagnose if its a RAM problem.

Answer #6

OK Cool. It’s stopped doing it now though, hopefully it doesn’t crash on me soon.
